NORTH CAROLINA, Feb. 14: Toyota has opened its new battery manufacturing plant in North Carolina, confirming that its investment in the project has reached about $10 billion. The facility is one of the automaker’s largest manufacturing commitments in the United States and begins domestic production of lithium-ion batteries for its hybrid and electric vehicles. Initial production areas are now operational following years of phased construction across the large industrial campus.
